Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookstore "NADiff" will introduce a book they recommend. This time, we will be introducing the book recommended by the NADiff Apartment, the flagship store in Ebisu, Tokyo (1-18-4 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, 1st floor, NADiff A/P/A/R/T).
■ "The Book of Ballet" by Marcel Dzama
Marcel Dzama is an artist born in Canada in 1974 and currently based in New York, USA. This book is a collection of records of Marcel Dzama's costume design for the New York City Ballet's production of "The Most Incredible Thing" (based on an Hans Christian Andersen novel), choreographed by Justin Peck.
The book includes sketches from the production process of the costumes, which fully utilize Dzama's fairy-tale-like, seemingly cute but cynical style with a hint of black humor, as well as conversations between him and Peck, giving a glimpse into the collaboration between artist and choreographer, inspiring each other.
What's more, it also comes with a poster by Dzama, which is a real treat.
