Musician Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984, in Ontario, Canada. She began singing gospel songs in church at a young age and taught herself to play guitar by the age of 12. Her musical career began as a child, including joining Canadian singer Shania Twain on a concert tour at age 14. She subsequently signed with Arista Records A&R and moved to the United States alone. Her first album, "Let Go," released in 2002, debuted at number 8 on the Billboard charts and sold 15 million copies in less than two years. She was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, establishing her as a young rock singer with global recognition. Her second album, "Under My Skin," was released in 2004 and reached number one in 13 countries. She achieved record-breaking album sales of 8 million copies in the United States and 2 million copies in Japan. She continued to release albums, including "The Best Damn Thing" in 2007, "Goodbye Lullaby" in 2011, and "Aviril Lavigne" in 2013. She broke new records on music charts around the world and won numerous music awards, including the World Music Awards and Juno Awards.
