Gallery ROCKET in Harajuku, Tokyo, will relocate and reopen on March 18th on the third floor of the Dojunkan building in Omotesando Hills (4-12-10 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). ROCKET was founded in the fall of 1996 as a gallery with a new concept, reminiscent of a magazine or club, in a room in the Dojunkai Aoyama Apartment, which stood where Omotesando Hills now stands. It later moved to Harajuku, but this year, marking its 20th anniversary, it will relocate for the third time and reopen as "Omotesando ROCKET" on the third floor of the Dojunkan building in Omotesando Hills. Under the new concept of "FRONT OF MODE by ROCKET," the gallery will be transformed into a gallery and pop-up shop space with a curated focus on "mode." After opening, the space will offer a space where fashion designers, photographers working on seasonal visuals and fashion magazines, stylists, models, editors, and other fashion creators, as well as artists working in the fashion field, can freely express themselves. The space will feature different events every one to two weeks. The opening exhibition, "gege," by designer Yamagata Yoshikazu of writtenafterwards and written by, will run from March 17th to 30th. In addition to an installation based on the latest collection and an order session open to the public, there will also be sales of limited edition items.
In conjunction with the gallery relocation, Harajuku Rocket will be renamed "Harajuku ROCKET by CATERING ROCKET." Going forward, it will be used as a catering base where delicious and fun food is created, and as an open space related to food that can be used for events, parties, photo shoots, etc.
