The original 990 was born in 1982 as a running shoe that brought together New Balance's best technology. The 990, introduced to the world with the tagline "On a scale of 1000, this shoe is a 990," was priced at approximately $100, a steep price for a shoe at the time. Since then, the 990 series has evolved as the brand's flagship model, undergoing uncompromising research and development to the current, latest model, the 990v5. The 990v3 is the third generation of the 990, released in 2012, marking the 30th anniversary of the series' creation. This collaborative model, the LEVI'S(R) x NEW BALANCE 990v3, comes in two colorways: indigo and gray, matching the signature tones of each brand. Each version features Levi's® exclusive Shrink-To-Fit™ denim and a long-haired hairy suede overlay with nubuck accents, inspired by the iconic Levi's® fuzzy back patch. The N logo on the outside of the right foot features a special Levi's® tab. The LEVI'S® x NEW BALANCE 990v3 is a Made in U.S.A. product, a proud product of both companies, and utilizes Shrink-to-Fit™ technology, invented for denim production, to create an exceptional fit.
