The youth empowerment movie "Build a Girl," based on the semi-autobiographical novel "How To Build A Girl" by author and columnist Catlin Moran and directed by the production team behind "Bridget Jones's Diary," will be released on October 22nd and stars Beanie Feldstein from "Booksmart." The story is set in early '90s Britain, a time when popular bands like Oasis, Blur, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, and Manic Street Preachers were taking the rock scene by storm. Joanna (Beanie Feldstein), a dull high school student living in the suburbs, can't stand the tedium of everyday life and travels alone to London to apply for a writer position at the major music magazine, D&ME. Dying her hair bright red and donning bold, eccentric outfits, she unleashes her talent as popular music writer "Dolly Wilde."

However, she becomes obsessed with rock star John Kite (Alfie Allen) during an interview, and fails to write a calm article, resulting in a major failure. With advice from her editors, she regains her footing by writing a flurry of radical, sarcastic articles. But while she achieves status, fame, and money, she gradually loses sight of her own heart.

This film depicts Joanna, who, despite setbacks and painful experiences, continues to look back on herself, accept herself as she is, and challenge herself again and again without fear of failure. Additionally, John Kite's live performance scenes were filmed at KOKO, a prestigious London live music venue where numerous famous musicians, including Madonna, Prince, and Bruno Mars, have performed, making this a film packed with scenes that will be of interest to Western music fans.
