On August 26th, Maison Margiela's limited-time concept store, "Maison Margiela: A CHRONOLOGY," will open in the Center Park on the third floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. It will run for six months.
The pop-up will be based on the concept of "A CHRONOLOGY" (literally, "timeline" or "chronology") and will be divided into six sessions, each approximately one month apart. Over the course of six months, it will weave the story of Maison Margiela, which entered a new era with the appointment of John Galliano as creative director last October.
The first period, from August 26th to September 15th, will be titled "INTERSECTION," and will feature items with asymmetrical and impulsive forms created by the fusion of opposing elements and the intersection of different elements. The second period, from September 16th to October 13th, will launch John Galliano's first ready-to-wear 15-16 Autumn/Winter collection, based on the concept of "A NEW ERA." The full lineup will include key looks from the show, as well as items exclusive to this concept store in Japan. The third period, from October 14th to November 17th, will be based on the concept of "TIMELESS ICONS." In addition to the 2015 Autumn/Winter collection, the collection will offer iconic pieces such as the "Tabi" boots, "Bucket" bag, "5-zip" rider's jacket, and "REPLICA" long boots, proposing the Maison's unique timeless style. Subsequent periods will continue with changing themes such as "Universe" and "New Gender." See for yourself the current state of Margiela, as he continues to explore new creations that transcend fashion.
