Now in its 31st year, "rooms," a joint exhibition for fashion and design professionals, will be held at the Yoyogi National Stadium First Gymnasium from September 9th to 11th. Founded in 2000, "rooms" operates a multifaceted business centered on joint fashion and design exhibitions. Currently, it has become one of the world's leading exhibition venues, with approximately 500 exhibiting brands and 20,000 visitors. Its greatest feature is its seasonal renewal of the visual image, including venue design, exhibition planning, and advertising. This year's 31st exhibition, based on the concept of "0.01% / Rare Value," will feature installations by rare artists that can't be seen anywhere else. The venue will also feature an exhibition by JIRO, a makeup artist active in films, TV dramas, and commercials. JIRO, who specializes in special effects makeup and modeling, will exhibit works created solely with paint, rather than special effects makeup, and will also provide makeup demonstrations. Other planned events include a feature introducing up-and-coming creators by Yoshikazu Yamagata, designer of fashion brands writtenafterwards and written by and head of the design school "coconogacco," and a segment on "creating Japanese words that don't exist yet" by copywriter Koji Nozawa. The "rooms Ethical Area," launched in 2013 to showcase brands that are considerate of the earth and society, will feature approximately 40 brands under the theme of "renovation." Furthermore, food production company SOF has been hired to offer food in collaboration with cutting-edge restaurants across Japan that practice Asian and macrobiotic cuisine, under the theme of "0.01%." The event will feature an Asian-inspired salad wrap series and other art food items made with rare ingredients.
