Home economics schools (bride schools) once existed all over the world, with the aim of training women who had few opportunities to continue their education after compulsory education to become good housewives. While many of these schools have fallen into decline, this school became coeducational in the 1990s, accepting male students and is a rare example that has survived to the present day. Today, students of all genders flock to the school, seeking the wisdom and skills to "live in the present," saying things like, "I'm not going there to be a housewife" and "I want to be someone who can take care of myself."

While the term "housewife" has traditionally been used to refer to a married woman who takes care of household chores, the lessons at this school remind us that it is actually someone who "cherishes life." This film, the feature-length debut of Icelandic up-and-coming female director Stefania Thors, gently questions the nature of lifestyle and housework in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen people spending more time at home.
