Add this to your Paris souvenir list! Beauty professionals recommend three cosmetic items that haven't yet arrived in Japan

Oct 17, 2016
France, a beauty powerhouse, boasts numerous cosmetic brands and women who are highly conscious about their skincare. Despite this, Paris surprisingly lacks select shops selling cosmetics and skincare products, with most purchasing coming from major department stores or individual brand stores. But then, in 2012, the city's first cosmetics store, Oh My Cream!, opened and captivated many Parisian women. The elegant and relaxed interior displays carefully selected cosmetics, skincare, and haircare items from around the world. The store focuses on organic products, as well as items that are free of petrochemicals, preservatives, coloring agents, and other chemical ingredients. Oh My Cream's director, Marion, explains, "There are many confusing products out there, but using more isn't always the best. We want to deliver high-quality, long-lasting products that are truly beneficial to the skin."

Most of the selected items are products you won't find in pharmacies or department stores. Some are sold exclusively by Oh My Cream, making it a truly "only known" brand. The staff have a deep knowledge of beauty and will give you accurate advice about products and skin types, making it a highly trustworthy store, which is probably the secret to its popularity.

Special cosmetics that can only be found here, such as niche brands that are not mass-produced and items that cannot be imported into Japan due to Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, are a good choice! Since there are very few women who don't use skincare products, these are sure to make a welcome souvenir.

Marion is knowledgeable about the differences in skin types and skin concerns between Asians and Westerners, and carefully explained each product to me. Here are three cosmetic brands not available in Japan that she recommends for Japanese people to add to their souvenir list.

Joelle Ciocco

In Paris, this brand is only available at Oh My Cream. Joelle, who has extensive research into epithelial cells, develops skincare products from a medical perspective. Many of the products feature high levels of moisturizing ingredients that focus on anti-aging, making them a lifesaver for women living in dry Europe.

SUSANNE KAUFMANN

An Austrian natural cosmetics brand. They stock a wide range of products, from skincare to spa items. "I especially recommend the Hyaluron Serum. This serum is extracted from flowers that grow only in the Alps, making it extremely rare and a true gift from nature." The jelly-like texture is absorbed into the skin, providing thorough nourishment.

Christophe Robin
