Architect Yusuke Fujita's "11 Doors and Doors" exhibition will be held at the Prismic Gallery in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, from October 21st.
In architecture, doors and doors (tategu) serve as partitions and opening/closing functions. Yusuke Fujita considers doors and doors, which divide spaces while simultaneously creating new relationships, to be "an element that embodies the essence of architecture," and has treated them as an important element in many of the homes he has designed since going independent. Furthermore, to encourage a wider use of the doors and doors he has produced for each home, he has launched "Koto," a specialty store for designing doors for each home (=door).
The exhibition will be organized as a trade fair for "doors and doors." Photographs, models, and actual doors from a total of 11 homes, from homes he has designed to those currently in development, will be on display. The dualistic design of doors and doors will suggest new versatility in architecture.
