ELLE cafe's flagship store in Aoyama will have a pre-opening on October 28th, followed by a grand opening on November 11th. ELLE cafe offers cutting-edge healthy food made with ingredients with a story that meet ELLE cafe's unique standards, including free-range eggs from contracted farmers, organically grown non-GMO seasonal vegetables, and grass-fed beef raised stress-free in nature. Based on the store concept of "Modern Wellness," the store aims to create a sustainable food cycle in the city center with the goal of "making people and the planet healthy." The two-story store features a bakery and deli (takeout) and open-air café on the first floor, and a restaurant serving chef's courses on the second floor. The restaurant also has private rooms (for 6 to 8 people) that can be reserved for parties. (Dinner service at the second-floor restaurant is by invitation only.) The restaurant's executive guest chef is Melissa King, a nationally renowned chef beloved by celebrities like Madonna and the Obama family. The second-floor restaurant offers a course menu featuring ingredients Melissa encountered during her travels in Japan, as well as a wide selection of organic wines from around the world. Other dishes include eggs Benedict and burgers made with organic bread, a healthy "macro bowl" made with quinoa and plenty of vegetables and no white rice, and custard tarts and soft-boiled pancakes made with free-range eggs. The creative director is Sarah Lavoine, a France-based interior designer who is admired by Parisians and works worldwide. A reception celebrating the opening was also held, featuring Lou Doillon, actress and musician and daughter of Jane Birkin, who visited Japan from France. In addition, Mori Hikari, Takigawa Christel, Fujiwara Hiroshi, Tanigawa Junji, Tane Tsuyoshi, Michibata Jessica, Shibuya Keiichiro, Tamaru Maki, Matsuda Miyuki, and Mizushima Hiro also came to celebrate.
