The long-established French chocolatier Hirsinger has announced its 2013 Valentine's Day collection, marking the first anniversary of the opening of its Ginza boutique. "Pour les enfants du mode ~For the children of the world~" (100,800 yen) is limited to one set. Despite its astonishing price, all proceeds except for the chocolate sales will be donated to child sponsors. It contains 15 pieces of "Le Galée" chocolates, coated in white meringue, in a box that was used at the Hirsinger main store about 100 years ago. "Les amoureux du Jura ~Love for Jura~" (25,000 yen), limited to 200 sets, contains 18 pieces of Hirsinger's winter-only chocolates and an artistic pen from Jean-Pierre Lepine, a writing instrument brand founded in 1935, all packaged in a triangular package. The limited edition "Sélection de tablette/All Tablet Selection" (¥35,000) is an assortment of all 10 classic Il Sangeir tablet varieties, offering the true taste of cacao. For 112 years, Il Sangeir has preserved its recipes and manufacturing methods exclusively within the family. Despite aspirations to open a store in Paris, the company has insisted on selling only in its local town of Arbois. In January 2012, it opened its first global branch in Ginza, generating significant buzz. Edouard Hirsinger, the fourth-generation owner, received the Meilleur Ouvrier de France award, equivalent to a Living National Treasure in Japan. Since its inception, the company has used only fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create its "living chocolate," and all of the chocolates sold at its Ginza boutique are handmade in France.
