Essie releases pink nail collection "Sugar Daddy"

Jun 5, 2014

Nail brand Essie will release a new color collection, "Sugar Daddy," on June 21st. The lineup includes 17 colors, including the main color, the milky pink "Sugar Daddy," as well as pale gradient shades, the vibrant pink "Guilty Pleasures," and the red "Really Red." The new formula, tailored to Japanese tastes, features a crystal clear base for unique color and shine, and micro-milled pigments sized for each color. It also features a thin, soft brush. Each color is priced at 1,500 yen. At the same time, the brand will also release nail care items: Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil, Essie First Base Base Coat, and Essie Good to Go Top Coat (each 1,500 yen). Essie is a nail polish brand founded in the United States in 1981. It's available in over 250,000 salons in 101 countries worldwide. Originally a salon-based nail polish brand, it expanded to retail stores in 2011 and currently offers a total of 48 colors. Weingarden explains her brand, "I want to be a presence that continues to add color to women's lives by having them wear nail polish on special occasions like birthdays, graduations, and weddings." Each Essie shade is uniquely named by founder Essie Weingarden, inspired by her travels and personal memories. For example, Sugar Daddy means "Daddy Long Legs" in Japanese and refers to a pampering adult man. The baby pink "BALLET SLIPPERS" was inspired by London ballerina shoes.
