Street-style interior design group "Magma" collaborates with Isetan Shinjuku store

Sep 22, 2013

The pop-up event "Funny Funny Furniture," featuring creative collectives Magma and FACETASM, is taking place on the third floor of Isetan Shinjuku. The limited-time event "Keisuke Kanda to Shinjuku Isetan," held in the TOKYO Kaihoku (Tokyo Liberation Zone) on the second floor of the same store, also features fixtures designed by Magma, demonstrating their popularity among fashion designers. Magma, which incorporates kinetic art into interior design, has become a popular creative collective in recent years, creating exhibitions, store fixtures, and TV show sets. Formed in 2008 by Jun Sugiyama and Kenichi Miyazawa, classmates in the Spatial Design Department at Musashino Art University, their punkish, kitschy style, such as works combining figurines and graffiti, has earned them a strong following among Tokyo's street fashion generation. This collaboration with FACETASM includes director's chairs, tables, lamps, key chains, hangers, and T-shirts. The event runs until the 24th.
