Laforet Museum Harajuku will host its eighth annual performance event, "HARAJUKU PERFORMANCE+." This year, electronic music composer Ryoji Ikeda will perform. The program features two representative performance pieces: "datamatics[ver2.0]," a culmination of the "datamatics" art project, which explores the invisible data that pervades modern society, and "supercodex[live set]," which expands the scope of thought from a world reduced to the smallest units of 0s and 1s to a quantum world where superpositions of 0s and 1s exist, achieving an evolution in expression. The theater-style "datamatics[ver2.0]" will be performed on December 21st at 5:00 PM, while the standing-only "supercodex[live set]" will begin at 7:00 PM. Advance tickets for one program are 2,778 yen, and tickets for both programs are 3,241 yen. Advance and same-day tickets are 4,630 yen. Ikeda is an electronic music composer and artist born in Gifu in 1966 and currently living in Paris. He pursues the essential characteristics of sound and light as an essential characteristic of images from both the perspectives of mathematical precision and aesthetics, presenting live performances and installations that utilize meticulous compositions of sound, images, materials, physical phenomena, and mathematical concepts. His "spectra" series, which transforms public spaces with large-scale installations using powerful white light, has attracted acclaim and been exhibited in Amsterdam, Paris, the Aichi Triennale, London, and elsewhere.
