Mizuno will release the WAVE PROPHECY SORAYAMA, designed by Hajime Sorayama, a world-renowned Japanese artist, on February 6th at 2G TOKYO, 2G OSAKA, DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA, KITH TOKYO, GR8, MIZUNO TOKYO, and MIZUNO OSAKA CHAYAMACHI (some stores will be releasing some products in advance).
The WAVE PROPHECY series is Mizuno's flagship shoe packed with innovative technology, and this latest model marks the 10th instalment. Mizuno's structural design has been elevated to an artistic level with Hajime Sorayama's unique approach.

Armed with his astonishing realism, Hajime Sorayama has become a legendary figure both in Japan and abroad for his works that pursue the beauty of the human body and machines. He has developed an avant-garde approach to hyperrealism using airbrushes from his own unique perspective, and his "Sexy Robot" series, which he has been producing since 1978, has particularly attracted attention around the world.
The newly released "WAVE PROPHECY SORAYAMA" brings together Mizuno's structural technology and has updated the uniquely evolved sole unit "INFINITY WAVE" under the supervision of Hajime Sorayama. Compared to the previous "INFINITY WAVE," the sole structure is more flexible and lighter, with a large cavity in the outsole designed to resemble a floating sneaker, and translucent parts incorporated into the midsole.
The futuristic translucent upper is made of transparent resin and features a silver Lambard logo. The heel features metallic silver parts, and the "SORAYAMA" logo is printed on the inside of the sole as proof of the design by Hajime Sorayama.

■Hajime Sorayama■
Sorayama's artwork transcends the concept of art, reaching far and wide, influencing the fashion industry, subculture, and underground scenes. Sony's "AIBO," for which he created the concept design, is included in the permanent collections of MoMA (NYC) and the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, D.C.), and is archived at the Library of Congress. His acrylic paintings, which combine hand painting and airbrushing techniques, have been exhibited worldwide in exhibitions such as "The Universe and Art" (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2016; Art Science Museum, Singapore, 2017), "Cool Japan" (Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam, 2018), and "Tokyo Pop Underground" (Jeffery Deitch, NY/LA, 2019-2020).

New shape design to reduce air resistance
Prosthetic leaf spring "KATANA&Sigma" for top athletes

By placing air holes from the contact area with the spikes to the top, air resistance is reduced by approximately 31%*1. The mass is approximately 15% lighter than conventional products, and the moment of inertia, which indicates ease of swing, is approximately 10% smaller than conventional products.*2 This carbon leaf spring was developed for top sprint and long jump athletes in track and field, and is scheduled to go on sale from April 30, 2021, through Imasen Technical Research Institute and prosthetics and orthotics manufacturers nationwide.
*1 Compared to a product without air holes. Researched by Mizuno using a wind tunnel test device. Measured at a wind speed of 18.2 m/s and with the leaf spring positioned to maximize the speed at which the prosthetic leg is swung (leaf spring tilted 30° forward from vertical).
*2 Compared to conventional products. Researched by Mizuno using a moment of inertia measuring device. Measured with the knee's axis of rotation set 460 mm from the ground and 80 mm forward from the leaf spring mounting surface.
