Why does it move me so deeply? (From "THE STUDY OF COMME des GARCONS" by Minamitani Eriko, Little More)
The fashionista currently receiving the most digital attention is not 13-year-old Mappy, nor Mademoiselle Yulia, nor even Lady Gaga. It's probably "Mr. Garcon," a university student who is the talk of the town on Twitter.
Judging from his timeline, he appears to be a Meiji University student who plays the piano. His tweets are filled with his love for COMME des GARCONS.
"I think I was born for Comme des Garçons."
"Some people say my face is no good, but if you think it suits me because I'm good-looking, then you don't understand fashion. Face has nothing to do with fashion! Especially Comme des Garçons. It's the national dress of everyone!"
"For the sake of Comme des Garçons: ・I don't mind being thought of as a pervert ・I don't mind losing friends ・I don't mind girls being turned off ・I don't mind not having a girlfriend ・I don't mind not getting married ・I don't want a house ・I don't want a car ・I don't mind not eating But I still want to wear Comme des Garçons." (All from Timeline Mama)
After entering university, he spent 420,000 yen on Comme des Garçons, and because he wore it every day, he earned the nickname "Garçon."
Amazing. As I wrote in my previous blog, college students interested in fashion are truly an endangered species. I think it's truly wonderful that such a young demographic exists in this day and age. I'll be honest, I was known as "Gol" when I was a student. Jean Paul Gaultier, of course. And because I still like Gaultier and wear skirts, my seniors consider me an endangered species (lol). But back to him. It's good to shop at second-hand shops and not just at retail stores. His passion for "wearing Comme des Garçons" is palpable. Some people say it doesn't suit him, but Japan has a culture where you learn through the form. Traditional performing arts like Noh and Kabuki are drilled into us from a young age, even without understanding the meaning. The arts become part of us, becoming part of us.
The Comme des Garçons Spring/Summer 1997 collection truly left the world speechless and is still talked about to this day, "Body meets Dress, Dress meets Body." Just as he said, he too will quickly become a Comme des Garçons.
Well, Mr. Garçon hasn't tweeted recently. What is he doing? Is he working part-time in preparation for the sale? I can't wait for his exciting tweets.
I wonder if there will be a girl version (Galko lol).
By the way, the photo shows a book related to Comme des Garçons and some items from Plus and Gangryu that I bought this season.
