Spanning 1,837 square meters across four floors, the new location is the brand’s largest store to date, bringing together every category within the Onitsuka Tiger universe. Yet the significance of this opening extends beyond its scale. What emerges here is a vision of how the brand sees the future of retail and brand experience.

Why Shinjuku?

Since its founding, Onitsuka Tiger has grown while maintaining a deep commitment to Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship. At the same time, the brand believes that the way people encounter brands has changed dramatically.

In an era when products can be purchased from virtually anywhere in the world, physical stores are expected to offer something more than convenience alone.

For Onitsuka Tiger, Shinjuku is far more than a high-traffic shopping district. It is a place where people from around the world gather and where diverse cultures and values intersect. The brand sees this unique environment—where local customers and international visitors naturally coexist—as an ideal stage for communicating the values of a global brand born in Japan.

A Store Is More Than a Place to Sell

One idea surfaced repeatedly throughout the store presentation: the evolving role of retail.

Onitsuka Tiger positions its stores not simply as points of sale, but as places where visitors can directly experience the brand’s values and worldview.

Rather than focusing solely on products, the space invites guests to engage with the ideas, atmosphere, and cultural references that shape the brand. The new Shinjuku flagship is a physical expression of that philosophy.

Four Floors, One Brand Universe

The store unfolds across four levels.

From the archive-inspired Heritage line (Onitsuka Tiger) to the Contemporary collection presented during Milan Fashion Week (ONITSUKA TIGER), as well as the formal footwear line THE ONITSUKA, every facet of the brand is represented under one roof.

The first floor serves as the point of introduction.

Designed around the brand’s signature yellow and black palette, the space showcases shoes alongside bags, accessories, fragrances, and other lifestyle categories, offering an immediate immersion into the Onitsuka Tiger world.

Particularly notable is the expanded eyewear presentation near the entrance. While eyewear has previously been part of the brand’s offering, its prominent placement suggests a growing emphasis on the category as Onitsuka Tiger continues to strengthen its identity as a global fashion brand.

Ninety-Nine Pairs of Shoes Tell the Story
oward the back of the first floor stands one of the store’s most striking features: a monumental shoe wall displaying 99 different models.

The installation reflects both the brand’s evolution from its roots in performance footwear and the breadth of its contemporary design language. Conceived as a defining first impression for visitors, the display creates a powerful visual statement worthy of the world’s largest Onitsuka Tiger flagship.

From NIPPON MADE to the Collection Line

The second floor is dedicated to craftsmanship.

A highlight is the NIPPON MADE series, which celebrates Japanese manufacturing expertise.

Products created at the Onitsuka Tiger Innovation Factory, the brand’s dedicated production facility in Tottori Prefecture that opened in January 2026, are also featured here. Furnishings inspired by 1970s Italian design further reinforce the dialogue between Japanese and Italian influences that has long shaped the brand’s identity.

The third floor focuses on the collection line presented in Milan. Finished with Rosso Lepanto marble and satin brass, the space offers a quieter and more refined environment in which to experience Onitsuka Tiger as a fashion label.

New Touchpoints Through Pop Culture

The store also features collaboration items with Astro Boy. Alongside them is a blond Monchhichi plush keychain dressed in an Onitsuka Tiger hoodie—an item that offers another entry point into the brand’s world beyond footwear and apparel.

What connects these items is the way they naturally bridge Japanese character culture and the Onitsuka Tiger universe. In Shinjuku, where visitors from around the world converge, such pop-cultural touchpoints can serve as an accessible introduction to the brand for international guests.

Beyond shoes and fashion, Onitsuka Tiger is creating opportunities for people to encounter the brand through characters, culture, and shared references. That broader approach is also part of the “brand experience beyond retail” that the Shinjuku flagship seeks to offer.

Time Spent With the Brand

Another defining feature of the flagship is the amusement area located on the M2 floor.

Developed in collaboration with GiGO, the space is not intended as a simple entertainment zone. Instead, it reflects the brand’s belief that a relationship with Onitsuka Tiger does not necessarily begin with a purchase.

By creating opportunities for visitors to engage with the brand’s culture and atmosphere—regardless of whether they buy anything—the floor functions as a new kind of touchpoint.

Time spent with the brand itself becomes part of the value proposition.

From Shinjuku to the World

What Onitsuka Tiger has created in Shinjuku is more than a flagship store.

It is a place where Japanese craftsmanship, fashion, pop culture, and urban energy converge. A space designed not merely for selling products, but for fostering encounters with the brand itself.

The world’s largest Onitsuka Tiger flagship offers a glimpse into the next chapter of brand experience—one that begins in Shinjuku and reaches far beyond it.
