The film "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" will be released nationwide at Shinjuku Cinema Qualite and Cine Quinto on October 9th. This film is also a hot topic as it is a collaboration between the acclaimed film studios, A24 and Plan B.

"A24" and "Plan B" are two of the most talked-about film studios in the global film scene today. Both have produced numerous high-quality, award-winning hits that combine artistic and commercial merit. "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" marks the first time these two companies have teamed up since the Academy Award-winning "Moonlight." Emerging director Joe Talbot made his spectacular feature film debut with this film, which was screened at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and won both the Best Director Award and the Special Jury Prize.

The setting of "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" is, as the title suggests, "San Francisco." It's home to the Golden Gate Bridge, streetcars running uphill, and elegant Victorian-style homes.

Rapid development in this historic city has caused land prices to soar, and as the wealthy have moved in, generations of residents have lost their homes. Jimmie Fails, who plays the protagonist in this film using his real name, is one of them.

When the place where you grew up changes so much that not even a trace of it remains, it feels as if your precious memories are overwritten and your identity is denied. While this is a seemingly personal story, it also depicts a problem occurring all over the world.

Director Talbot, a childhood friend of Fails, weaves his story with beautiful music and gentle yet powerful dialogue, capturing the landscape of his beloved city on screen. This is Fails's first feature film and has received high praise at film festivals around the world, including being selected as one of the best movies by former US President Obama.

Even though he doesn't own much and is relegated to the outskirts of a big city, Jimmy cherishes his beautiful home, filled with memories of his family, and his irreplaceable best friend. His portrayal of Jimmy will leave us with a warm embrace, a film that gently touches our hearts, especially at a time when we are reexamining what we truly need in life.
