Lexus will exhibit at Milan Design Week 2025, the world's largest design event, which will be held in Milan, Italy from April 8th to April 13th, 2025. At Daylight in Superstudio Pyu, in the heart of the Tortona district, where creativity from around the world comes together, Lexus unveiled the world premiere of ``A-Un,'' an installation by Lexus and a Japanese creative group, as well as ``Discover Together,'' a project in the style of LDA, created by three cutting-edge creators.

■Installation "A-Un"
For 20 years since its first exhibition at Milan Design Week in 2005, Lexus has created engaging and immersive experiences that express the company's values and vision through collaborations with artists and designers such as Philippe Nigro, Neri Oxman, Sou Fujimoto and Rhizomatiks.

This year, Tokyo-based creative agency SIX Inc. and design studio STUDEO have collaborated to create an immersive installation inspired by the ancient Japanese concept of "Aun no Kokyū," the moment when two people miraculously work in perfect harmony, sensing each other's feelings and movements. Using the motif of the "black butterfly," a window that connects people and society, the installation expresses Lexus's thoughts on the future of mobility in an overwhelmingly immersive space.

The giant black butterfly-shaped screen that suddenly appears in the space, measuring 3 meters high, 10 meters wide and 4 meters deep, was created entirely by hand-weaving thread woven from approximately 35 km of bamboo fiber over a period of three months. This represents Lexus' respect for traditional Japanese materials and craftsmanship. As visitors approach, this installation responds to their heartbeat, initiating a unique experience. The moment the visitor's heartbeat and the 1/f fluctuations sampled from nature fuse through the Black Butterfly, they discover a new world, experiencing a moment of perfect harmony between people, society, and the world.

Not only does the car operate as desired when operated by the user, but it also anticipates the user's intentions and proposes new possibilities. Through the Black Butterfly, people and cars understand and grow together over the course of a continuous time, discovering unique moments and new worlds. Lexus envisions next-generation mobility that connects with people and opens up new possibilities for transportation.

■ "Discover Together" Exhibition
Building on the legacy of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD, which has uncovered, nurtured, and supported the next generation of creators with innovative ideas and explored the possibilities of creativity and design, three teams of cutting-edge creators have taken on the challenge of showcasing new possibilities for individual experiences through technology, using the "Black Butterfly" motif. Bascule Inc., Northeastern University, and Lexus in-house designers will exhibit interactive works that interpret the "Black Butterfly" from their own unique perspectives.

"Earthspective" Bascule Co., Ltd. (Japan)
"Earthspective" is a combination of the words "Earth" and "Perspective," and this work's theme is expanding one's perspective. Every day, we see the world from our own perspective, but by connecting with outer space through "Black Butterfly," we can view the Earth within the vast field of space and gain a new perspective.

"Our Energy Nexus" Northeastern University (USA)
This work, based on the theme of reducing air pollution, converts the body heat of each visitor into energy to create a better world via the "Black Butterfly." The unleashed energy becomes a shining star in the sky, reducing Milan's pollution levels, which are displayed in real time. The star's power grows with each additional participant, and the stars continue to evolve through cooperation, making the night sky ever more beautiful.

"Discover Your Butterfly -Butterfly is your symbol, unrealized potential to make an impact on the world-" Lexus in-house designer (Japan)
Inspired by the butterfly effect, in which the flapping of a single butterfly's wings can have a profound impact on the world, this work depicts how countless butterflies gather and interact with each other, organically changing the world in a beautiful way. Through the "Black Butterfly," a window that unlocks unknown possibilities, visitors can let their own butterfly fly, influence the world, and discover their unknown selves. The small flapping of each person's wings will make the world more beautiful and bring about big changes.
