The Prada Fall/Winter 2025 women's collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons challenges these ideas. It seeks to challenge and provoke debate about common perceptions of quintessential femininity and beauty, as well as how these perceptions continue to evolve.

Displaced, rescaled, rematerialized, recontextualized and decontextualized. The dress, a symbol of femininity, is constantly shifting in form and style. Freed from its original function and language, scraps of material sway around the body. Immediately unrecognizable, we are compelled to question its origins. With each movement, its meaning shifts, and new silhouettes emerge from its interaction with other pieces.

The overall proportions are reworked, changing not only the way the clothes function but also the relationship between the body and the dress. In the process of stripping away the unnecessary, structure is further emphasised, with unexpected materials being used and edges being deliberately left raw.

Femininity in accessories such as jewellery and handbags, as well as ribbons and embellishments, contrast with raw detailing. These differences and disparities not only reflect the many facets of femininity, but also challenge its definitive definition.

Inside the Prada Foundation's Deposito, where the show took place, the rugged and the refined merged. Opposites fused: the structural and the decorative. Metal scaffolding transformed the space, revealing a carpet designed by Catherine Martin on the floor. This fusion of disparate visuals reflected the complex meanings surrounding the clothes.
