Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton becomes sleeping art at MoMA

Apr 5, 2013

On March 23rd, Oscar-winning actress and fashionista Tilda Swinton was found asleep in a glass case on the second floor of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

The performance art, which simply involves sleeping on pure white sheets, is titled "The Maybe." It was created by British artist Cornelia Parker and first exhibited at London's Serpentine Gallery in 1995. It reportedly attracted 22,000 visitors. Parker was later nominated for the Turner Prize in 2007, an award given to British artists.

As the title "Maybe" suggests, the performance is only scheduled to last for one year. It is unclear when or where the performance will take place within MoMA. A total of six performances are planned, with the second taking place two days later on the 25th. When will Tilda return? Where? You'll be lucky if you can see it.
