The French performance group COMPAGNIE OFF and the Russian group The Theatre Mr Pejos Wandering Dolls will be presenting a variety of performances in the outdoor space of Roppongi Hills starting April 26th.
COMPANIE OFF, founded in Tours, France in 1986, is a leading European street arts company. Pursuing elements such as poetry, circus, opera, contemporary art, and humanity, the group has presented unique works around the world.
The program's theme is "Les Girafes - Animal Operetta." A red giraffe, a clown, and a diva appear as symbols of love. A herd of gigantic giraffes, approximately 8 meters tall, slowly parade through the city, swaying their long necks. The entire city will be used as a stage for this spectacular performance, incorporating theater and music.
The Russian performance group "Theatre Pejo" was founded in St. Petersburg in 1993. They have performed in over 30 countries, including European and Asian countries, and have performed for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tony Blair, and George Bush. In their performance "Decadence," they present a unique worldview created by mysterious creatures that seem to have descended from another world.
This is the first time both groups have come to Japan as part of an art program commemorating the 10th anniversary of the opening of Roppongi Hills. The event will run from April 26th to 29th. A performance is also scheduled for the final day, the 29th, on Roppongi Keyakizaka Street.
