
Photographer Kozo Miyoshi's photo exhibition "1972~" will be held at Gallery 916 from August 30th through October 12th.
The exhibition features over 60 works selected by 916 curator Yoshihiko Ueda from Miyoshi's collection, including series such as "See Saw" and "Conservatory," taken between 1972 and 1983 while he was in the United States.
Miyoshi was born in 1947. He graduated from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art and won the Photographic Society of Japan Newcomer Award in 1986. In 1991, he spent a year studying at the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography as an overseas artist trainee under the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He then continued to reside in Arizona. He returned to Japan in 1996 and has since been based in Tokyo. His works are currently held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography; the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
