RIE GOMAJIMA, the brand created by jewelry designer Rie Gomajima, will be presenting a new collection at RADEN ART MAGIC!, which runs until June 9th at the Mixture on the 3rd floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.
The new collection features a necklace (46,000 yen) incorporating the traditional technique of "raden," which has been passed down for generations by artisans in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, where Rie Gomajima was born. The lustrous and delicate "raden," made from the iridescent mother-of-pearl layer inside seashells, has been given a modern design.
The theme is "Japan is beautiful because of its four seasons, and flowers are also beautiful because they change with the seasons." Flowers, an eternal motif for women, are expressed in the lustrous colors of mother-of-pearl, along with the changing of Japan's four seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, sky in summer, crimson in autumn, and snow in winter.
