German designer Konstantin Grcic participated in the ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH project by Seiko Watch Corporation, resulting in the creation of the new 2020 model, "ROKU." The design of "ROKU" was inspired by combining two shapes: hexagons and circles. The hexagon, a powerful shape found in nature such as honeycombs and snowflakes, and circles, which represent the passage of time, exude a sense of presence and harmonize with each other. The watch will be available from June 26, 2020, at ISSEY MIYAKE shops worldwide and at ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH retailers nationwide. The suggested retail price in Japan is 35,200 yen (tax included) (32,000 yen excluding tax) to 40,700 yen (tax included) (37,000 yen excluding tax).
<About ROKU>
"ROKU" depicts the relationship between two shapes: a hexagon and a circle. The six sides of the case exterior relate to the 12 hours indicated by the circular dial, which symbolizes the passage of time. The two powerful shapes harmonize while maintaining a certain tension with each other. Just like the concept of time, one indicates the continuous passage of time, while the other is a punctuation mark representing specific events.

ROKU draws upon the correlation of two geometries: a hexagon and a circle. The six sides of the hexagon relate to the 12 hours of the dial. The round watch face symbolizes the circular movement of time. Round is the most natural shape of a clock. Two strong shapes harmonize with each other while maintaining a certain tension between them. Just like the notion of time: the continuous passing of time on the one hand, the punctuation of certain events on the other.

Konstantin Grcic (Konstantin Grcic)
Born in 1965. He trained as a wood cabinet maker at The John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood and studied design at the Royal College of Art in London.
In 1991, he established his own design office, Konstantin Grcic Design, in Munich. He is currently based in Berlin. His diverse activities include industrial design projects, exhibition design, and architectural collaborations. His major clients include Flos, Magis, MUJI, and Vitra. He has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro for the MAYDAY lamp (Flos, 2001), MYTO chair (Plank, 2011), and OK lamp (Flos, 2016). Grcic believes that functionality for people is achieved not only through rigor, but also through sensitivity and humor that appeals to the senses. His work is characterized by his tireless research into design, art, and architecture, as well as his passion for new technologies and materials.
