BE@RBRICK Ito Jakuchu "Peony and Small Birds" 100% & 400% will go on sale at 7net from 2pm on July 1st, 2020.

Ito Jakuchu was a genius painter active in the mid-Edo period. His depictions of plants and animals, painted with skillful and precise techniques and vivid colors, have gained popularity around the world. One of Jakuchu's masterpieces, "Peony and Small Birds," has now been made into a BE@RBRICK.

The print on the BE@RBRICK itself is reproduced using water transfer printing so as not to damage the delicate details of the original artwork. The gloss finish gives the BE@RBRICK a decorative and gorgeous look.

The entire screen is filled with peony flowers, so it's hard to notice, but if you look closely, you will see a small insect flying in front of the two birds' eyes. The way he casually expresses the duality of things in nature, through the law of the jungle, in a beautiful world, shows that Jakuchu was more than just an artist with great skill.

<Ito Jakuchu (1716-1800)>
An artist active in Kyoto in the mid-Edo period, he was known as a "painter of fantastic ideas" who skillfully blended realism and imagination. His style is characterized by delicate depictions of a wide variety of plants and animals, woven together with a variety of overlapping colors and forms to create gorgeous works. While rich in color, the overall image is expressed by skillfully combining dyes and pigments on silk, and even the pale colors have depth. In particular, Jakuchu's distinctive technique of "reverse coloring," in which color is applied from the reverse side of the silk, creates a sense of three-dimensionality and transparency throughout the entire work, which, combined with his delicate depictions, exudes the freshness and vitality of the plants and animals.
