Tsuji Seijisha
As Japan's first official kiln for the Imperial Household, dating back to the early Edo period, Tsuji Seijisha boasts over 350 years of history and outstanding craftsmanship. The Tsuji family's secret "Gokushin-yaki" manufacturing method, which stands out even in Arita, one of Japan's leading pottery towns, was invented in 1812 by Kihei, the eighth head of the Tsuji family. As the sakkubai (box container) must be broken to remove the product after firing, this is a one-time process that requires skilled technique, but applying the glaze and firing the sakkubai in a vacuum creates an elegant luster and the deep, soft color of the gosu.
