The "World Travel Wine Exhibition," showcasing approximately 700 wines from 29 countries around the world, is being held in the event hall on the sixth floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. It runs until 3:00 PM on March 2nd. This is the fifth time the exhibition has been held, and what's noteworthy about it is its extensive lineup of wines from hard-to-reach Eastern European countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and Slovenia. From Russia, Chateau Les Grandes Vostok's "Cuvée Karsov" (3,400 yen) is making its debut in this exhibition, with a limited run of 60 bottles. Enjoy the taste of indigenous grape varieties from a wine-producing region at roughly the same latitude as Bordeaux. Romania, one of the most historic wine-producing regions, presents Jidway's "Mysterium Feteasca Regara & Muscat Ottonel & Sauvignon Blanc 2013" (2,500 yen), a mystery-themed wine. As the name suggests, it uses three grape varieties, showcasing the joy of blending themed around each grape's unique characteristics. From Slovenia, home to one of the world's highest per capita wine consumption rates, Istenić's "Cuvée Special Number One" (3,500 yen) will be making its debut at the exhibition. As its name suggests, this wine offers a taste of the winery's masterpiece. Other wines on offer include those from Georgia and Ukraine. During the Soviet era, Georgia primarily produced sweet wines tailored to Russian tastes, but in recent years, the country has focused on international markets and is producing high-quality wines thanks to extensive research. Ukrainian wines are produced in regions bordering the Black Sea, where the ideal climate is said to be ideal for grape growing. The exhibition will feature wines from these "former Eastern Bloc" countries, as well as wines from the Southern Hemisphere and the Middle East. From Brazil, where high-quality wine production began in the 1970s and has been booming in recent years, Casa Valduga's "Arte Traditionnelle Brut 2012" (2,600 yen) will be available. Experience the flavors of this renowned winery, known for pioneering the production of sparkling wines using the Champagne method in Brazil. From Chile, where the country's long north-south geography is characterized by its diverse terroirs, Montes' "Purple Angel 2011" (6,500 yen), which has been praised by wine reviewers, and from Lebanon, Clos Saint-Thomas' "Les Emires 2009" (2,500 yen), making its first appearance at the exhibition, will be available in a limited edition of 40 bottles. In addition to selling wine, the venue will also have a light meal and cafe zone called "Bar." At the bar run by Shimanouchi Fujimaru Brewery, a wine brewery and restaurant in Osaka city, you can enjoy their home-brewed draft wine (500 yen per glass), which is poured straight from the barrel and offers a dry, light and fruity taste, as well as wines and snacks from all over Japan selected by the brewery.
