In a world where traveling freely has become difficult, it is the power of creativity that brings joy and hope to our daily lives as we encounter the unknown. The 12th installment of FASHION HEADLINE's creator series, "Our Fashion Story," features CELINE HOMME.
CELINE HOMME's Spring/Summer 2023 collection combines Creative Director Hedi Slimane's cold, minimalist aesthetic with the decadence—key elements of punk rock and new wave—and the dazzling spirit of Baroque. Named "DYSFUNCTIONAL BAUHAUS" after the work of artist Renata Petersen, it references an artistic movement that championed simple, practical geometric lines while warning against distortion and distortion.
The collection is based on understated items such as simple shirts and classic pants, but is given a twist with vibrant details such as jewel-like studs and embroidered tigers on the back. It is not a typical "Bauhaus" collection, with its emphasis on geometric design and functionality, eschewing elaborate decoration, and has been described as a "dysfunctional Bauhaus."
This time, photographer Hidenobu Kasahara presents the fashion story "CELINE HOMME x BOY'S HEART," which likens the decadent elements depicted by Hedi Slimane and the adolescent sentiment of rebellion against established conventions to the "heart of a boy." The story is based on the theme, "As an adult, I visit the places I used to play in my childhood, but my heart is still that of a boy."
