Grand Cinema Sunshine, one of the largest cinema complexes in Tokyo, will open on July 19th inside Q Plaza Ikebukuro, which is opening at the east exit of Ikebukuro.


Grand Cinema Sunshine will be one of the largest cinema complexes in Tokyo, with 12 screens and 2,443 seats. The highlight is the IMAX Laser/GT Technology theater, which has the largest screen in Japan. Compared to a regular screen, the viewing angle is approximately 40% wider both vertically and horizontally, creating a powerful visual experience.

It has been decided that an original brand cafe and restaurant will open on the 5th and 12th floors, respectively. Cafe Clapper's Diner on the 5th floor is an American waffle specialty store where you can enjoy freshly baked waffles in a cozy space reminiscent of a vintage American movie. Restaurant Bar Panorama on the 12th floor is an Italian bar that can be enjoyed all day while taking in the spectacular cityscape that looks as if it were projected onto a screen.

Both stores offer menus that can be enjoyed not only by those who come to watch a movie, but also just for a meal, offering original menus that exceed the standards of traditional cinema complexes.
"TRANSPHERE"
To commemorate the opening, a full-length IMAX short film, "TRANSPHERE," will be screened. The film is directed by Sekine Mitsutoshi, who made his feature film debut with "Just Being Alive Is Love," released last fall, and won the Shindo Kaneto Award. The film stars actor Sato Himi, making her film debut, and model Ruka. This marks the first time a full-length IMAX film has been produced in Japan, and sound artist evala will be in charge of the composition and sound design, making full use of the IMAX 12-channel sound system. Taking full advantage of the scale of Japan's largest screen and a top-notch sound system, you can enjoy an exquisite visual and auditory experience. This film will be screened in the "IMAX Laser/GT Technology" theater before theatrical releases.

The opening film lineup has also been decided. Starting July 19th, "Weathering With You," "Tokyo Ghoul S," "Toy Story 4," "Diner," "Free! -Road to the World-," and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" will be screened across 12 unique screens.
