Sumida Aquarium, located inside Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, will be hosting "Tokyo Goldfish Wonderland 2019" from July 12th to October 31st, where visitors can experience goldfish viewing in a nostalgic, retro exhibition space with a Showa-era atmosphere.




This marks the fourth time that Sumida Aquarium, which retains a strong sense of downtown culture, has held a goldfish-related event. This year, the start of the Reiwa era, is themed on "nostalgia," and "Tokyo Retro Goldfish" will be introduced, creating a retro atmosphere in Edorium, Japan's largest goldfish exhibition area. Step through the beaded noren curtain and you'll find a retro space filled with Showa-era decorations like advertising signs, miscellaneous goods, and goldfish lanterns, as well as the scent of original aromatherapy and music.



In addition, there's an interactive floor project where ripples spread like water when you walk on it. The projected images unfold in a way that evokes the passage of time, allowing you to enjoy admiring the goldfish while experiencing a nostalgic space.

The event will also feature a hands-on program called "Goldfish Color Matching," where you can create your favorite goldfish pattern using paper collages and recreate the beautiful colors of the fish. To complete the goldfish-shaped base, you attach chips in five colors, including red, white, and black, and then put them in a goldfish scooping bag to take home.
