Lucien Pellat-Finet collaborates with Parisian brand Morabito to release bag collection this fall

Lucien Pellat-Finet, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in the Spring/Summer 2019 season, has announced a collaboration with MORABITO, a luxury Parisian bag brand that was founded over 110 years ago.

Lucien debuted in 1994 with a 10-piece collection of the finest four-ply cashmere knitwear and quickly became a favorite among New York celebrities. In 2003, the same year that Marc Jacobs announced his collaboration with Takashi Murakami at Louis Vuitton, Lucien released a collaborative item featuring Murakami's magic mushroom motif. The brand has always collaborated with Keiichi Tanaami in 2011, a sweater with a Rolling Stones lip and tongue motif in 2012, Keith Haring in 2013, and Jean-Michel Basquiat in 2014. Through consistently forward-thinking collaborations, the brand has developed collections that are exemplary of the luxury street scene.

While previously collaborating primarily on art and graphics, for this latest collaboration, the brand has chosen Morabito, a renowned Parisian leather brand founded in 1905. Leveraging its jewelry craftsmanship, the brand sources the world's finest rawhide and expertly crafts its trunks, bags, and leather accessories, which have been beloved by celebrities worldwide, even as its boutiques have moved locations, from Saint-Honoré to Place Vendôme to Avenue Jeunesse V.

In particular, Carla Bruni, then wife of President Nicolas Sarkozy, attended the Bastille Day ceremony in 2008 carrying a Morabito antique "Vendôme" bag, garnering much attention in fashion magazines. Its clientele includes Marilyn Monroe and Maria Callas.

The collaborative items to be released this fall feature Lucien Pellat-Finet's signature motifs, such as skulls and palm trees, and include items such as tote bags, clutch bags, and mini Boston bags that are tailored to street fashion. A wide range of small leather goods, including passport cases and coin cases, are also planned, and fans are excited to see which motifs will be featured.
