The second edition of the "Photobook JP" art book fair, where you can immerse yourself in the world of photo books

Event Date:2019.02.28-03.03
Feb 21, 2019
The second annual "Photobook JP," an art book fair specializing in photobooks, will be held at Osanbashi Hall in Yokohama from February 28th to March 3rd.

Photobook JP, which was first held at the same venue in March 2018 as an event jointly planned by roshin books and flotsambooks with the aim of raising the level of the photobook scene, recorded a total of more than 10,000 visitors over the four days.

Once again, a variety of exhibitors from Japan and abroad will be participating, including domestic publishers such as Akaaka Art Publishing, Seigensha, Fugensha, Nikitesha, BUFFALO PRESS, and Libro Arte, international publishers such as MACK (UK), bookstores such as POST and Harmonica Antiquarian Bookstore, and shashasha and IMA.

In addition, as a special project, the "Print House Session" project will be held, in which four printing companies and four designers will form teams to produce booklets. The four teams, consisting of Yamada Photo Engraving Co. x Kato Katsuya, San-M Color x Machiguchi Kei, Live Art Books x Tanaka Yoshihisa, and Fujiwara Printing x Machiguchi Satoru, each team freely edited and designed the 700-photo work "matter" by photographer Yokota Daisuke, using the techniques unique to each printing company to print the work, which was then bound by Shinohara Shiko. The finished booklets will be distributed free of charge at the venue on a first-come, first-served basis, with 500 copies available each day. It will be a surprise which team's booklet will be distributed on which day.

Other talk sessions scheduled during the event include Nikitesha's Touhou Akira and photography history researcher Shirabe Fumiaki (March 1st, 2:30 PM), photographer Onaka Koji and photography critic Takazawa Kenji (March 2nd, 2 PM), and photographer Kasai Itsushi and Nanano (March 3rd, 12 PM). Additionally, the first 100 visitors each day will receive an original tote bag featuring a different Daisuke Yokota work.

Entry to the event is free, but please note that advance registration with CP Plus is required (a fee will apply if you do not register beforehand).
