A solid look for light: Comme des Garçons Homme Plus [Men's Fall/Winter 2019-20]

Feb 8, 2019
COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS's Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection was unveiled in Paris on January 18th.

The overall theme of the collection was "Finding Beauty in the Dark," implying that nothing new can be found unless you go through the darkness. The collection kicked off with loud noises in the dark, featuring a long black jacket worn underneath a black mesh dress. This was followed by a long necklace style with a thorn motif reminiscent of a villainous professional wrestler, hanging from the neck.

Laser-cut artificial suede, velour, sequins, and overprinted materials such as foil stamping, glitter, and urethane create a lustrous effect, moving seductively against the dark runway and models sticking up their middle fingers.

Dresses layered with vinyl cut like armor. The neckline is lace. Long coats cover the men peeking out from under the dresses. Shorts (champs) with cut-out interiors are a new item proposal characteristic of the brand.

A velour jacket is layered on just the left half of the body, and an embroidered Spencer is layered over a long jacket. The hem of the tweed jacket is cut on the bias, giving it a different look from front to back, and from left to right. Everything is solid, as if exploring the boundary between men's and women's wear, and the weight of the handmade is striking in this collection.
