■ "Tangentially Parenthetical"

This book was published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic. Divided into nine chapters, it chronicles the country's unique and outstanding artistic imagination and technical tradition. Even during Nazi annexation and four decades of Communist occupation, photographers, writers, typographers, book designers, and graphic artists forged a distinct cultural identity.

Nine chapters highlight the work of more than 250 photographers and graphic artists, including Alfons Mucha, Josef Sudek, František Drtikol, Jaromir Funke, Jaroslav Rossler, Zdeněk Tmej, Jindřich Štyrský, and Karel Teige.
