This event, held at the beginning of 2019, was created with the idea that selecting and purchasing the items needed to organize your life can help you start the new year on a good note. The two participating brands are Arita ware manufacturer Housengama, which Ortho Soup Stock Tokyo came across and whose approach to craftsmanship and products resonated with the brand, and Rokurosha, a manufacturer of handmade lacquer bowls called "Only Bowls" in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture.

Hosen Kiln
Arita's Housengama is the pottery manufacturer that produced the "soup bowls" that Soup Stock Tokyo created in spring 2018 in collaboration with ceramic artist Makoto Kagoshima. Impressed by the careful work done by the artisans to paint and glaze each piece, he returned to the market many times, and discovered that there were many wonderful original items, which led him to attend this market.

There is a wide variety of items, from the vibrant red and gold patterns unique to Arita ware, a major ceramics production area, to modern pieces with striking simple paintings. Although they are not usually sold to the general public, at the event you can purchase any items you like on the spot. There is a limited number of deadstock Arita ware items on sale, priced from 300 to 5,000 yen, so once they are sold out, they will no longer be available for purchase, even during the event.

Rokurosha
Located in Sabae, Fukui, known for Echizen lacquerware, Rokurosha incorporates both tradition and modernity. Their products, including "Only Bowl," allow customers to pick up the bowl and choose the shape and lacquering method to create their own personalized lacquer bowl. While preserving traditional techniques, the brand also produces products based on the concept of "redefining value."

During the event, an exhibition and order-taking event for "Only Bowl" will be held. Custom-made "Only Bowls" require a urethane coating and wiped lacquer finish after ordering, so delivery will take two to three months. For those with a pure lacquer finish, delivery will take three to six months. Ready-made bowls that can be taken home on the day will also be sold. On the mornings of the 13th and 14th, workshops will be held to teach how to choose and the attention to detail that goes into making bowls. This Japanese-style soup bowl, styled like a pureed soup, is a recipe exclusive to also Soup Stock Tokyo, and is perfect for soothing stomachs tired from the New Year's holiday.
