The American down jacket brand FIRST DOWN's pop-up store, "FIRST DOWN ART PIECE PROJECT," will be open at OPEN STUDIO ANNEX from December 7th to 25th. The project will see creators selected by Motofumi "POGGY" reconstruct FIRST DOWN products to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are like art pieces.

First Down was born in the 1980s and became popular for its high functionality and excellent design, perfect for both outdoor and urban use. In the 1990s, it quickly gained popularity among young people who loved music and fashion, becoming a symbol of New York City with its down jacket. Advertisements featuring models like Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson, and NBA player Stephon Marbury generated buzz, and legendary rappers like The Notorious B.I.G. also wore the brand. Supported by the street scene, the brand has become a staple in the frigid New York City.

This historic brand is relaunching in Fall/Winter 2018. The first collection features First Down's classic models, centered around the iconic Bubble Down Jacket, with its tape and reversible design that inspired the world-famous streetwear brand. Rather than simply reissuing the pieces, the silhouettes have been updated for a modern, urban feel.

The pop-up store will feature a project in which these exclusive items will be reimagined by creators selected by Motofumi "POGGY" to create one-of-a-kind pieces like art pieces.

Participating as project creators are PHADE (SHIRT KING), a New York artist who has gained attention for his street art on subway trains; READYMADE, an antithesis to ready-made goods, whose designs and techniques transform items into completely unique, one-of-a-kind pieces based on the theme of "denying, attacking and destroying existing order, concepts and common sense," has attracted attention not only in Japan but around the world; A LOVE MOVEMENT, the "Happy & Enjoy project" launched by Tetsuzo Okubo in 2001 and based in Los Angeles; and Yuumi ARAI, which develops items based on the concept of "unusual" that combines the functionality of menswear with basic femininity.

Items of such quality that they are worthy of being called art will be available exclusively at this pop-up.
