The 10th edition of the art book festival "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR" is scheduled to be held in July 2019, for the first time in about two years. Prior to this, "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR: Ginza Edition" will be held at Ginza Sony Park for one month from March 8th to April 7th, 2019.


The "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR" is a veritable art book "festival," bringing together publishers, galleries, and artists from around the world who normally express themselves through printed materials in their respective countries and regions. Over the course of several days, the event attracts a total of over 20,000 visitors.

The "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR: Ginza Edition," which will take place in advance of the fair over the course of a month, will differ from the fireworks-like "festival" that has been held annually until now, and will instead be inspired by the "park" concept of the venue, Ginza Sony Park. We will create a space where you can connect with the creators who work hard every day and the art books they create in a more everyday setting.


Twenty exhibitors will rotate each weekend, and each exhibitor will communicate directly with visitors at their booth to promote the appeal of printed materials. The exhibition fee is not monetary, but "10 books," which will be used in a new project called the "Art Book Vending Machine."

The "Art Book Vending Machine" will only be available on weekdays. The venue stocks over 1,000 art books, primarily collected as an "exhibition fee." By paying a participation fee of ¥500 or inserting one of your own art books into the vending machine, you can choose a keyword from the list and receive a book linked to that keyword. For a modest participation fee, you can enjoy a chance encounter with an art book.


In addition, "Zine's Mate Shop" will be back for the first time in a long while, showcasing and selling unique art books and zines from Japan and abroad, selected from a public submission. Other events planned include workshops where you can experience the process of creating an art book, as well as various other features that allow you to discover the joys of printed matter.
