The "National Treasure Supporters 2018" event, which allows visitors to enjoy national treasures up close, will be held at Hajimari Cafe on the 7th floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from September 19th to October 8th.
This event commemorates the completion of all 50 volumes of "Weekly Japan's 100 National Treasures" (published by Shogakukan), a weekly book that conveys the appeal of national treasures. Exquisite replicas of the "Rakuchu Rakugaizu byobu" (Screenshots of Scenes in and Around Kyoto) and the "Tale of Genji Illustrated Scroll" will be on display and for sale, allowing visitors to see works of the same quality as "reproductions" displayed in museums and art galleries up close. Also on display will be precision figurines of national treasure motifs, crafted by Kaiyodo, a master of 21st-century craftsmanship.
During the event, on September 27th, the Mitsukoshi Theater will host a performance of the "Hasedera Shomyo" (Chinese Buddhist chanting), which has garnered worldwide attention as a form of religious music, and a talk on the "Charm of Swords" featuring Kawachi Kunihira, considered one of the greatest contemporary swordsmiths, and Kanda Matsunosuke, a storyteller who has played a major role in reviving storytelling.

Exhibitions, performances, merchandise sales, and the charm of national treasures, cultural assets, and traditional Japanese crafts will all come together at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.
