The Shimokitazawa Film Festival returns for its 10th anniversary this year. It will take place over three days, October 26th-28th, at Kitazawa Town Hall and three other venues.


The Shimokitazawa Film Festival's main program is a genre-agnostic competition, with programs showcasing the diverse cultures that define Shimokitazawa, including music, theater, fashion, and cuisine.

The theme for this commemorative 10th edition is "To be continued—the fun is still to come." The festival aims to inspire viewers to experience the same excitement and anticipation they feel when they see the words "to be continued" in a movie, drama, or game. This year, five programs will be held at a variety of venues, including Kitazawa Town Hall, Shimokitazawa's only movie theater, Torywood, and the live music venue ReG. As with last year, the key visual was created by the design unit Koniko.


On October 28th, a "Theater x Film" special will be held at Kitazawa Town Hall in honor of Shimokitazawa, known as the "town of theater." The latest film, "You Are You," directed by Daigo Matsui, head of the theater company Gojigen, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, will be screened. Another theater-related film will also be shown. Following the screening, there will be a talk session with director Matsui and other related parties.
