PETIT BATEAU, a French apparel manufacturer beloved by people of all ages for its soft cotton and gentle texture, has collaborated with STUDIO GHIBLI. This collection of pure and charming apparel for babies, children, and adults, inspired by the world of Ghibli films, will be available at Petit Bateau stores nationwide (excluding outlet stores) and online boutiques on October 26th. The soft cotton knit world of French-born Petit Bateau and the rich fantasy world of Studio Ghibli share a common language: color. Petit Bateau has been creating and dyeing its own unique colors for over 100 years, and has long been inspired by the delicate use of color in Ghibli films. Studio Ghibli, on the other hand, is familiar with Petit Bateau's history and its meticulous attention to craftsmanship, and shares a mutual understanding. This mutual understanding has led to the realization of this collaboration.
The four works featured in the collaboration are "My Neighbor Totoro," "Spirited Away," "Princess Mononoke," and "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea." A special color palette was created inspired by famous scenes from these four films, and recreated using iconic Petit Bateau items. A wide range of collaboration items, from baby bodice to adult marinière, are created using colors that are characteristic of each film, such as the vibrant green of Totoro's forest in "My Neighbor Totoro," the contrasting pink and green taken from a scene in "Spirited Away," and the vibrant pink of the cheerful and energetic Ponyo. Not only are the colors inspiring, but the film's characters also leap off the screen and appear on cotton knitwear. "Ponyo," "Totoro," and the mysterious creature "Makkuro Kurosuke," a small, black ball of soot, appear in prints and embroidery, playfully decorating the collaboration items. Kids' and adult marinière pullovers come with patches featuring film characters, allowing you to freely customize them to create a one-of-a-kind original pullover. The lineup includes a baby marinière long-sleeved bodice, a marinière dress, and a long-sleeved bodice.
