19-year-old photographer Masumi Ishida's first collection of works, "Light Years," has been published, and a photo exhibition is currently being held.

Jan 17, 2018

Photographer Ishida Masumi's first photo book, "Light Years," has been published. To commemorate this, a photo exhibition of the same title is being held at gallery QUIET NOISE in Ikenoue, Tokyo, from January 13th to February 4th.

Born in 1998, Masumi Ishida was discovered while still in high school as a "photographer of active schoolgirls," and in May 2017 she held her first solo exhibition, "GINGER ALE," at Omotesando ROCKET, which was a great success.

Since then, she has been inundated with interviews from numerous online media outlets, including i-D Japan and Z TOKYO, and is now expanding her activities to print media, including the Japanese edition of WIRED and a brand mook for Zucca.

This work is primarily composed of photos taken while she was in high school. She attended an all-girls school from junior high to senior high school, a unique environment where there were no class changes, and it captures the fleeting sparkle of everyday life with her friends, along with the painful realization that it will all end someday. Just one year after her debut as a photographer, this book has attracted attention and garnered intense media attention, marking the launching point of her new talent.

Pre-orders with a bonus postcard are currently being accepted (during January) at gallery QUIET NOISE, SHIBUYA PUBLISHING & BOOKSELLERS, and the TISSUE PAPERS online store (https://tissuepapers.stores.jp/). The book is scheduled to arrive in bookstores from around February 2nd.
