Our Thursday series features must-read books from each branch of art bookshop NADiff. This week's recommendation is "Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll. NADiff modern, our Shibuya branch in Tokyo (Bunkamura basement 1, 2-24-1 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), will be introducing the book.

■ "Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll
Since 1865, the children's novel "Alice in Wonderland," featuring the curious young girl Alice as its protagonist, has been beloved around the world. "Through the Looking Glass" is the final volume of the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" series, newly translated and illustrated by Hiroshi Takayama and Maki Sasaki, and was published in 2015 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Sasaki's illustrations serve as a bridge between the world of Alice, a young girl who meets her delightful companions and embarks on an adventure into another world, and the reader's own world. The characters and landscapes, depicted with reassuring curves and gentle colors, blend seamlessly into the book and enhance the uniqueness of the story. Sasaki, a prolific picture book author, has also produced many works, and her illustrations naturally connect the protagonist, Alice, with the reader's own childhood, evoking a sense of nostalgia. This will be a special book that will bring back forgotten memories and emotions while giving you a little courage in your daily life.
NADiff modern is currently holding a Maki Sasaki Fair to celebrate the release of her new book, "Through the Looking-Glass." We have a wide selection of autographed books, original prints, merchandise, and related books. Be sure to pick up a copy and experience the cute and magical world of Lewis Carroll and Maki Sasaki.
