"Gift Design Exhibition - Keiji Nagai Collection" to be held at ATELIER MUJI in Yurakucho

Event Date:2018.01.26-04.15
Dec 21, 2017
ATELIER MUJI in MUJI Yurakucho will be holding the "Gift Design Exhibition - Keiji Nagai Collection" from January 26 to April 15, 2018.

Fukuoka-based interior designer Keiji Nagai has collected a vast collection of product designs from around the world over the past 50 years, using his own eyes, hands, and feet to enrich our lives. This exhibition will focus on gifts and showcase some of the items from his vast collection, which is overflowing from his home and stored in four warehouses.

His collection spans a wide range of genres, including furniture, household goods, electrical appliances, welfare products, and books. Not only are they beautiful objects and excellent tools, but each product embodies a story that answers the fundamental question of what design means to humans and our lives. This exhibition captures a glimpse into the special space and time that Keiji Nagai has built, connecting with designers and many others around the world through these objects and giving thoughtful gifts to each other.

On January 26th, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, an opening talk will be held at AGC Studio in Kyobashi, Tokyo, featuring Keiji Nagai and design journalist Kaoru Tashiro, who is working on archiving his vast and valuable collection spanning half a century. Participation is free, and reservations can be made through the ATELIER MUJI official website (http://www.muji.com/jp/events/ateliermuji/).

A lecture series will also be held during the exhibition. This exhibition, presented by MUJI, which began as a specialty store for the aesthetics of everyday life, is a gift to all who visit. Experience the power of design that connects things, things and people, and people and people.
