Yoshihiko Ueda has been at the forefront of photography for 35 years, transcending the boundaries of art and advertising photography. While dealing with a wide variety of subjects, including nature, still lifes, and people, he has captured the finest moments in the world before his eyes with a sincere and consistent gaze, captivating many with his photographs.

The new work "Apple Tree" being shown in this exhibition originates from a photograph taken in 2013 when Yoshihiko Ueda was visiting Kawaba Village, Gunma Prefecture, as a judge for the Kawaba Village Nature Photo Festival, held in the village. He instinctively turned his camera towards the ripe apple tree he saw from the car window. The impression it left was so vivid that it left him with a strong desire to photograph it again.

A few years later, Yoshihiko Ueda returned to Kawaba Village and photographed it with an 8x10mm camera. He was captivated by the red of the apples, the intense sunlight, and their vitality. He also admired the aging of the apple tree, said to be the oldest in Kawaba Village. As the sunlight shone on the apples, their red color emanating vitality, and the moment he pressed the shutter amid this reflection and the flood of light, Ueda said, "My eyes were filled with joy, and a sense of joy welled up in my whole body." Through the subject of the apple tree, "Apple Tree" seems to capture the vitality and the years that the tree has lived through, as well as Ueda Yoshihiko's elated feelings at having encountered it.

An opening reception will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on December 2nd, the first day of the solo exhibition. Ueda Yoshihiko will also be in attendance.
