Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., the company that plans and operates IDÉE, will hold a solo exhibition of "Stoneware" by ceramic artist Shingo Takeuchi, who is active in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, from May 20 to June 21, 2022, at the IDÉE Gallery, located inside IDÉE TOKYO (Gransta Tokyo B1F, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). In addition, Takeuchi's works will be on display and for sale on the occasion of the exhibition.
The pieces, carefully hand-twisted, folded, and fired, have a beautiful, quiet shadowy appearance that gives them an impression of being objets d'art, but they have also been carefully designed to function as flower vases or containers. Please come and see Takeuchi's works, which blend into your daily life and allow you to feel the art.

【Artist statement】
People who see my work at exhibitions often ask me, "What image do you have in mind when you create them?" or "What is your motif?", but I always answer, "I don't have a specific image or motif." I don't actually have anything with me when I create. My works are initially based on simple, interesting shapes I find around me, but they continue to develop and change with each new creation, and the original shape is almost nonexistent. The pieces I've been creating recently are also based on shapes made by folding clay in half as it comes out of a clay kneading machine in my workshop. I started by trying to connect these pieces into various shapes like pipes. I created this piece by adding edges to the pipes and layering them like weaving. My production method is to make a small model out of a lump of clay, and then I make the string while looking at it. (Takeuchi Shingo)
