Sulbin, the Korean dessert cafe that sparked a shaved ice boom in Korea, will open its first Japanese store, "SULBING HARAJUKU," on June 30th on the second floor of Green Oak Harajuku (1-14-34 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) in Harajuku, Tokyo.
Sulbin is a cafe that offers modern sweets that incorporate innovative ideas into traditional Korean confections. When the first store opened in Busan, Korea in 2013, its fluffy, powdery snow-like milk shaved ice that melts instantly in your mouth became a huge hit, especially among young people, sparking a major shaved ice boom in Korea. In 2014, it won the "Korea Brand Award," given to the 12 brands that most closely meet consumer needs and create hit products in a single year. It has since grown rapidly, with over 500 stores across Korea.
"SULBING HARAJUKU," the first store in Japan, will sell the signature dish "Injeolmi Sorbin (Roasted Soybean Flour Rice Cake Shaved Ice)," a combination of fragrant roasted soybean flour and crispy almonds, as well as the limited-time "Saengtalgi Sorbin (Fresh Strawberry Shaved Ice)," which won first place in H.I.S.'s "Ranking of the World's Best Sweets You Want to Try in the Country Where It's Original!," and the hot sweet "Injeolmi Tostu (Roasted Soybean Flour Rice Cake Toast)," which is also very popular in winter. Other Japan-only menu items are also planned to be introduced.
