Daniele Tamagni, the photographer who brought the Republic of Congo's "Sapeurs" to the world, has released a new book

Seigensha has released a new photobook, "FASHION TRIBES GLOBAL STREET STYLE," a sequel to "SAPEURS the Gentlemen of Bacongo," by photographer Daniele Tamagni, who brought the elegant, vibrantly colored suits of the Congolese "Sapeurs" to the world. The "Sapeurs" craze is heating up, thanks to the photobook, an exhibition at Seibu Shibuya, and the accompanying visit of "Sapeurs" from their home country to Japan. Currently, a fashion renaissance, typified by the "Sapeurs," is occurring locally in places once thought to be on the fringes of fashion. Daniele Tamagni, who was the first to compile a photobook on "Sapeurs," was one of the first to spot this trend, and he interviewed "fashion tribes" in seven countries who are overcoming economic and other disadvantages with their creativity. By spending days with these groups, he gained their trust and succeeded in capturing images that captured each subject's individuality.

The film introduces the forefront of South Africa's fashion scene, including the Smarties, who became hugely popular on the South African pop culture scene in 2005; Vintage Crew, an ambitious group that expresses themselves through dance and fashion; and The Saltists, known for their elegant and unique fashion sense. Also photographed were Dirianke, a group of plump women dressed in traditional fashion who are representative of Senegalese women, and Guzalie Fashion, young women who enjoy the nightlife in sexy outfits.

Other topics covered include Cubans on the streets of Havana decked out in Western brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Nike, and Louis Vuitton; the "Flying Cholitas," women wrestling in traditional clothing; young Burmese in Myanmar inspired by British punks of the mid-1970s; and Botswana's "Afrometal," which combines 1980s heavy metal with Western cowboy style and African accents.
