The Dior Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture Collection was held on January 24th at 2:45 PM local time (10:45 PM Japan time). The show took place at the Rodin Museum in Paris, and was a spectacular collection that thoroughly studied the structure of fabric and fully incorporated the techniques of an haute couture collection.
The spectacular runway, measuring 92.33 meters in length and 13.5 meters in height, was decorated with art created by artisans from the Chanakya School of Arts and Crafts under the supervision of Karishma Swari.

The atelier, where brains and hands work together, is both an instrument and a laboratory. Haute couture is a living organism where know-how and skill meet and evolve, a collaborative process in constant dialogue between virtuosity and methodical technique. The Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director of Dior Women's Collections, beautifully expresses the fruits of this dialogue. She is in awe of the human instinct that creates handiwork and wishes to erase all barriers between art and craftsmanship. The human body is the catalyst that breathes life into this avant-garde project.
Embroidery is a three-dimensional conceptual work that reinterprets the atelier's techniques and its own excellence. It is more than just a decorative detail, progressing through a series of movements like a choreographed dance. The application of embroidery gives the fabric a three-dimensional and sculptural quality. It stands out against the fabric and creates beautiful contrasts, creating synergies with other pieces, such as the contrast created by pairing a long ecru skirt with all-over embroidery with a sheer silk organza shirt.
The collection's signature tights are given a stunning three-dimensional effect through embroidery, creating vibrant contrasts with a variety of pieces, from a grey suit in grisaille-like colors to an evening dress that combines delicate embroidery with lightweight tulle, and a draped leotard. Through this collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri reaffirms the creative framework and methods handed down by her atelier, reintroducing the beauty of refined lines as a tribute to the essential role of haute couture: dressing the human body.
Elsewhere, a cashmere coat is complemented by a shiny cape, enhancing the silhouette of a glamorous white concealed jacket and trouser ensemble. The pleated skirt paired with the structured silhouette of the coat creates a voluminous look, while the silver lamé jacquard fabric of the dress accentuates every movement of the body.
Embroidered patterns that reinterpret Dior heritage are at the heart of the collection, reflecting the vision of transforming the atelier, which produces haute couture, the crystallization of constant challenges and questions, into a place of collaborative expression within the rules of haute couture.
